Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the VinSnap website at vinsnap.net, the VinSnap mobile app and related services (together, the "Service"), provided by VinSnap AI, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("VinSnap", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, such as a repair workshop, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of Services

VinSnap is a vehicle information platform that includes:

• VIN decoding and vehicle information lookup, including recalls
• A digital garage, service history, receipt storage and maintenance reminders
• Parts search and part number cross-reference
• AI-powered features: the AI Mechanic assistant, receipt reading and, for workshop accounts, AI estimates
• A community where users share posts, comments and photos
• Tools for repair workshops, on workshop accounts

We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the Service. If a change materially reduces a paid feature you are subscribed to, we will tell you in advance where reasonably possible.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To use most features you need an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date
• Keep your password secure and not share your account
• Accept responsibility for activity under your account

3.2 Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service.

3.3 Account Security

Tell us immediately at support@vinsnap.net if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in breach of any law
• Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights
• Upload malicious code, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Scrape, copy, resell or redistribute our data, or access the Service by automated means, without our written permission
• Circumvent plan limits, paywalls or security measures
• Impersonate any person or organisation
• Interfere with the operation of the Service

5. Community Guidelines

Zero tolerance: VinSnap has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed, and users who post it can be banned from the community or from VinSnap.

5.1 Prohibited content and behaviour

Anything you post (posts, comments, photos, profile name and bio) must not include:

• Hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age
• Harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation of anyone
• Sexually explicit or pornographic content, or any sexual content involving minors
• Graphic violence, gore, or content that encourages self-harm or violence
• Content promoting illegal activity, including vehicle theft, odometer fraud, VIN tampering, or removing safety or emissions equipment unlawfully
• Dangerous repair advice presented in a way likely to cause injury
• Spam, scams, misleading advertising, or repetitive or unsolicited promotion
• Other people's personal information, including faces, number plates, VINs linked to a named person, addresses or documents, without their permission
• Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights
• Impersonation of another person, business or VinSnap

5.2 Automated screening

Posts and comments are screened automatically before they are published, using our own filters and an AI moderation service. Content that fails screening is not published, and content may be held back for review if screening is unavailable. Automated screening is not perfect; you remain responsible for what you post.

5.3 Reporting and our response

You can report a post, comment or profile from its ⋯ menu. Reports go to our moderators immediately. We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these guidelines, and ban users who break them repeatedly or seriously. Content reported by several different users may be hidden automatically until it is reviewed.

5.4 Blocking

You can block a user from their post, comment or profile. You will no longer see their posts and comments. You can unblock people in Settings → Blocked users.

6. Subscriptions and Payment

6.1 Plans

Some features require a paid plan. Each plan's features and limits are shown before you buy. Prices may change; a price change for an existing subscription applies from your next billing period after notice.

6.2 App Store subscriptions

Subscriptions bought in the VinSnap iOS app are billed by Apple through your Apple Account. They renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel them in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Deleting your VinSnap account does not cancel an App Store subscription.

For the VinSnap iOS app, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) applies, together with these Terms. If they conflict regarding your licence to use the app, Apple's standard EULA applies.

6.3 Website subscriptions

Subscriptions bought on vinsnap.net are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and partial periods are not refunded except where the law requires it. If you delete your account, any website subscription is cancelled immediately and is not refunded.

6.4 Free trials

If we offer a free trial, the terms shown at sign-up apply. The iOS app does not currently offer free trials.

7. Your Data and Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, the providers that process it, and your rights. In the mobile app, AI features send data to our AI provider (OpenAI) only after you allow it, and you can withdraw that permission in Settings → AI data sharing.

8. Content and Intellectual Property

8.1 Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add to the Service, such as vehicles, service records, photos, posts and comments. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate and provide the Service, including showing community posts to other users. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for a limited period, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You confirm that you have the rights to the content you post.

8.2 Our rights

The Service, including its software, design and our compiled data, belongs to VinSnap AI, Inc. or its licensors. Vehicle and parts data from third-party providers remains subject to their rights. You may not copy, modify or redistribute it except as the Service allows.

9. Disclaimers, Including AI Output

9.1 Vehicle and parts data

VIN, specification, recall, maintenance and parts fitment data comes from third-party sources and can be incomplete or wrong. Always confirm fitment and critical information with the manufacturer, a dealer or a qualified mechanic before buying parts or carrying out work.

9.2 AI output

The AI Mechanic, receipt reading and AI estimates are generated automatically and can be wrong. They are for general information only and are not a substitute for inspection by a qualified mechanic. Do not rely on AI output for safety-critical repairs, such as brakes, steering, airbags, fuel systems, suspension or tyres. Check the details that receipt reading fills in before saving.

9.3 Service provided "as is"

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

9.4 Third-party services

The Service relies on and may link to third-party services. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VINSNAP AI, INC. IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or to any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination and Account Deletion

11.1 By you

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing support@vinsnap.net. Before deleting, you can export your vehicles, service history and reminders with Export Data.

11.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove your content, if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if required by law, or to protect other users or the Service. Where appropriate we will tell you why.

11.3 Effect of termination

When your account ends, your right to use the Service ends, and your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, tell you by email or in the Service before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

14. General Provisions

14.1 Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

14.2 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, for the iOS app, Apple's standard EULA, are the entire agreement between you and VinSnap AI, Inc. about the Service.

14.3 Assignment

We may transfer these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. You may not transfer your account without our consent.
